For three decades, Lualua has produced custom crochet and knitwear for fashion brands, startups, independent designers, wholesalers, and growing businesses. We don't sell a catalogue — we build your product, from your design and specifications, with the consistency of modern machinery and the soul of hand craft.

Our story
I grew up around this work, and today it is mine to carry on — still the same village, and many of the same hands.
1995
My mother started Lualua in 1995, with crochet and nothing else. She had watched the women in our village crochet for their own homes, making tablecloths and the decorations we use in Balinese ceremonies, and she knew how good they were. So she went and found customers for their work. For many of those women, it was the first money they had ever earned that was truly their own.
2004
In 2004, my mother handed Lualua to me. I kept crochet at the centre of everything and added knitting, starting with manual knitting production, so we could take on more work without losing the handwork the business was built on.
2022
In 2022 we added automatic knitting machines, so we could work faster and keep up with the international brands we had started making for.
Today
Today we make for customers in the United States, Australia, Spain and beyond. What we sell has grown, but how we work hasn't: real craft, made by people who are good at it, paid properly for it. That was my mother's idea from the very beginning, and it still runs everything we do.

Our sample MOQ is just 1 piece. For bulk orders the minimum is 5 pieces — per style, size and colour for automatic knitwear, and per style and colour for manual knitwear. See our How We Work page for full details.
Yes. Sample development takes 7–14 working days and is charged at 2× the production price. Revisions caused by a factory error are free; customer-requested changes are billed as a new sample. Full sample policy is on the How We Work page.
Absolutely. We work OEM, ODM and private label — building to your designs and specifications across all three production lines. Send sketches, tech packs, or reference samples and we'll take it from there. Your designs always remain your property.
Yes. We currently make for customers in the United States, Australia, Spain and other markets, all to export-quality standards. Share your destination and we'll outline the logistics.
Production lead times are 35 days for machine knitwear, 30 days for hand knitwear, and 45 days for crochet — beginning after sample approval and deposit, and excluding shipping. Sampling adds 7–14 working days beforehand.
